Chapter 2
(part 2)
I saw her darting through the vast and empty corridors. I fixed my gaze on her, only to be hit by a sudden, heavy blow on my head. "Hurry up, what are you doing?" she shouted. She ran towards the end of the corridor, heading for the stairs. A mocking smile appeared on my face as she glanced back at me. I chased after her, not just to catch up, but to get back at her for the impact on my head.
She let out a scream, reaching the stairs before I could grab her. She jumped down several steps and tried to get away. I followed her, ignoring the obstacles as she swung from the railings to evade me. Soon, we reached the lower part of the stairs, but it wasn't over yet. Her foot slipped, and she fell from the railing, hanging in the air. Once again, she had put herself in danger, forcing me to act quickly and catch her. She closed her eyes and screamed with fear, as I descended twelve steps and stood ready to catch her in mid-air. I was always faster than her.
She opened her eyes, showing fear as she hung in suspense for a moment, then met my gaze on the other side.
"I could have handled it myself," she said, making excuses with a shy tone that only fueled my mocking laughter. "Do you want to keep watching, or do you prefer to smile at me now?" She was right. I couldn't suppress my foolish smiles.
"I'm afraid you'll cause trouble for yourself again," I retorted, as she dropped down in front of me. "No, I won't. If you continue like this, you'll create problems for us. We haven't even started training yet."
We headed towards the training area, where they were waiting for us. The master, with his penetrating gaze, observed us, and I felt that he was especially focused on me. It was as if he saw something inside me that wasn't present in others.
After his usual speech about the consequences of our disorderliness, he wanted to evaluate our ability to read movements and the opponent's mind. He gestured to me, indicating that I should stand up. I got up from the chair clumsily and approached. I prepared myself to defend against attacks.
But my gaze was still fixed on the slender beam of light streaming through the windows. I paid no attention; other things captivated me. Sai, one of our strong companions, with a weary face and long, raven-like hair, stood out. Smart as he was, he always thought he could handle everything on his own. The master sent him towards me, instructing him to attack.
I sensed that the master wanted me to face some difficulty, maybe even receive a blow. Sai, skilled in combat, delivered fast and accurate strikes, combining strength with speed. He approached me rapidly, and I stayed still.
With clenched fists, he swiftly brought them towards me. I could have blocked them, but instead, I only created openings for him to exploit. As time passed, he became more aggressive. Finally, after a vicious strike, I ended the fight, grabbing his fist and pulling him towards me. The force of the impact sent him flying over my shoulders and onto the ground behind me. I was still faster.
